The church was at first a chapel of ease to St Peter’s
Upwell. Founded in 1865 it has no inscriptions inside and has become unsafe due
to subsidence.
Currently services are held in the Village Hall.
No burials ever took place in the ground around the church
but a separate “churchyard” was set aside further to the east along Birchfield
Road.
This ‘churchyard’ has now been taken over by the parish
council as a cemetery

Mr R Stannard, parish clerk, supplied some information when we met whilst I was recording at the cemetery
I was allowed access to the C of E burial register at the home of Mrs A Bennett. Normally I would then have looked again at those few inscriptions where the facts did not agree with the burial register. On this occasion due to the fact that all the deceased mentioned died after 1837 the web site ‘Ancestry.co’ was used to decide whether the data on the inscription or in the burial register was most likely to be correct.
