INSIDE THE CHURCH

CC01 [White plaque on north wall] To the memory of/ S Hanson BERNEY Bart/ born 3 December 1780/ died 7 September 1870/ The path of the just is as the shining/ light which shineth more and more unto/ the perfect day/ also of Agnes BERNEY his wife/ born 27 November 1800/ died 6 October 1870/ The virtuous woman is a crown unto/ her husband/ Their mortal remains were interred/ at Penmon near Beaumaris [Wales]/ This tablet and the stone campanile/ of the church were erected by all/ classes of parishioners as a tribute/ of respect and love to the best of/ landlords in August 1871 [Campanile = bell tower]

CC02 [Black plaque on north wall] In memory of/ Matthew William GOTOBED/ of Barton Bendish Hall/ dearly loved husband of/ Gwendoline Mary/ who died 23rd November 1953 aged 47 years/ He farmed here from 1933-1953/ His personality remains a happy memory/ with all who knew and loved him

CC03 [White plaque on north wall beside pulpit] In loving and grateful memory of/ Rev Stephen Gooch READ/ curate and rector of this parish 59 years/ 1865 to 1924/ This tablet was erected by parishioners and/ friends in token of their esteem

CC04 [Black marble floor tile to south of altar] Mr Simon TIFFIN died/ the 7th of Ap 1708 in/ the 28th year of his age/ Mary his wife daughter/ of Mr Charles BROWNE/ of Great Massingham/ died the 2d of May 1743/ in the 66th year of her age/ Sarah only daughter of/ Simon and Mary TIFFIN died 22d of Feb 1731/ in the 28th year of her age/ To the memory of her loving husband/ and dutiful daughter most tender of her mother/ and beloved by all that knew her/ and for the future repose of her own remains/ Mary TIFFIN above said caused this stone/ to be here laid/ according to which intention Simon TIFFIN/ her only son did cause here to be interred/ the body of his much lamented parent/ by her dearest relations and where her/ uncommon prudence and many other exemplary/ virtues are well known and will be long/ remember’d [BR entry not found for Simon]
