He married/ AD 1736 the admired vocalist Cecilia young sister to Isabella wife of the eminent Saxon composer/ John Frederick LAMPE both grand daughters of/ Anthony YOUNG the composer of the Royal Anthem/ “God save the King” he was honored and favored/ by HRH Frederick Prince of Wales in whose/ palace of Cliefden he composed the national/ anthem “Rule Britannia!” a particle of all the/ works that sing his praise His end was that of a/ true Christian and he departed breathing “alleluja”/ his exemplary wife, her niece and nephew/ the inimitable violinist BARTHELEMON with their/ only child Cecilia Maria Barthelemon HENSLOWE/ attended his death bed, the last named and her/ children dedicate this slab in Tottenhill church/ Norfolk 1845 – 1860/ Water parted from the sea/ may increase the river’s tide/ to the bubbling fount may flee/ or through fertile valleys glide/ yet in search of lost repose/ doom’d like man on Earth to roam/ still it murmers as it flows/ till it reach its native home

C015 [Window shaped memorial on south wall of choir] In memory of/ Cecilia Maria HENSLOWE/ widow of/ Captain Edward Prentise HENSLOWE/ and mother of/ Edward Frederick William Henry/ Frances and Francis who survive/ and of/ Cecilia John and Graham predeceased/ the only child of/ Francois Hippolite BARTHELEMONT/ of Bordeau and Mary YOUNG his wife/ born in London 1 Setember 1767/ she inherited the property of her only cousin/ John SCOTT a midshipman last heir to the/ earldom of DeLoraine/ but being robbed by a trustee became/ a ward of Chancery and after a long/ life of strange vicissitude died at/ Tottenhill in Norfolk 5 December 1859/ and was buried at Northfleet in Kent/ O my mother my mother words never can tell/ the sorrow I suffer in saying “farewell”/ from my fresh glowing youth to my fast freezing age/ thy goodness my mother all ills could assuage/ and if it be true that the soul cannot die that “love is unfailing” that Christ reigns on high/ till his church upon Earth be in Heaven complete/ O my mother my mother again we may meet!
