Denver has no civil cemetery The “new churchyard” is remote from the church. Take the Downham Market road out of the village to the junction with Sandy Lane on the left at the village sign. The new churchyard is accessed down a grass track at this point. According to the plaque on the south wall of the church it was consecrated July 23rd 1906 but the old churchyard was not closed until 1911.
Grave identification
numbers have been allocated to agree with the burial register system. Rows
across the width of the new churchyard are given a letter from A at the entrance
to S at the west end. Graves are numbered from north to south in each row. E.g.
Ref C017 is the 17th grave from the north in the third row from the east.
Additional information
and clarification has been added from the burial register in many cases and this
appears in the form [BR says xxx xx xx ]
Brief descriptions of
the memorials are given. When no description appears the memorial is a
headstone.
The full wording of the
inscription is usually not given where all persons died after about 1970, unless
there is something out of the ordinary about the wording.
